The road that leads tourists from the bottom of the hill to the sunset destination is wide and has a lot of trees along the road which makes the hiking journey less exhausting. There is also a temple atop the mountain, which was built to honor Shiva, the Hindu god.
3. Wat Phnom
Wat Phnom is one of the iconic symbols of Phnom Penh city. It is the only hill in the capital and is the central heart of Phnom Penh. Wat Phnom was previously named as Phnom Daun Penh, and it is where the city of Phnom Penh took its name from. Wat Phnom is not only a park, but it is a sacred place as well. On the top of this hill, there is a Buddhist temple known as “Wat Preah Chedey Borapaut”, where local people often come and pray.
Furthermore, there are various stupas and a temple of genie Preah Chau. Preah Chau temple is more like a Chinese temple, where stores a lot of Chinese statues inside. Otres Beach is a 3 kilometers long beach along the coast of Sihanoukville. Otres Beach has perfectly white sand, palm trees and crystal clear water, which still remain its peacefulness. It is a great place to have a small escape from the crowd. Moreover, there are a lot of accommodations available along Otres Beach as well.
6. Koh Rong Sanloem – Cambodia Tourism
Different from most of the beaches and islands in the world, most of Cambodia’s beaches and islands still remain untouched. Koh means island in the Khmer language. Koh Rong Sanloem is one of the islands in Sihanoukville province and is known as a paradise on earth. There is a beach on this island, called as the Lazy Beach. The beach has perfectly white sand and cleans clear blue water. This is where you can escape the crowd, enjoy the peace and relax. Wonderful seafood and bungalows are available for tourists. You can go fishing or snorkeling as well. This island may have limited electricity and water supply, and WiFi, but believe me, the view and the experience on the island are definitely worth it.
7. Preah Monivong National Park
Preah Monivong National Park is located in Bokor Mountain, Kampot Province. It is one of the most popular Cambodia tourism locations. Bokor is home to nature and a lot of wildlife. There is a waterfall known as Popokvil (swirling cloud) Waterfall. This national park consists of jungles, waterfalls and fresh mountain streams.
There are some French architecture on the top of Mount Bokor, such as a Catholic Church and an old casino due to the fact Bokor was established by the French. You can get to the peak of Bokor Mountain by cars and motorbikes. Riding to the top of Bokor Mountain is a dream of every biker. On the top of the mountain, the 3,000 feet above the ground view is spectacular.

8. Tatai Waterfall – Cambodia Tourism
Down to the South-west side of Cambodia, there are also a lot of great sites to visit. Tatai Waterfall is a large rocky cascade located in the Tatai River, Koh Kong province. This waterfall is hidden in a lush jungle, which leaves the Tatai waterfall untouched and clean. The water is perfectly pure as its source is from the high Cardamom Mountains. The water level rises in the rainy season, and drops in the dry season, however, you can swim all year round.
You can access to Tatai Waterfall by a boat or a motorbike. Nevertheless, I recommend you to take a boat because you can enjoy the scenery along the way and the whole boat trip experience is pretty pleasant. It takes you around 1 hour to the waterfall from the Tatai bridge by a slow boat.
9. Phnom Banan
Phnom Banan is another popularly visited Cambodia tourism site, which is not so far from Battambang. There is a temple on the top of the Phnom Banan, which was constructed in the 11th century. The temple consists of 5 towers, which look similar to Angkor Wat in Siem Reap Province.
In order to get to the top of the mountain, you need to climb 358 steps. The climb is kind of tough and exhausting, but the view is worth. Some carvings of the temple are in poor condition but some Buddha images are still in good condition. Additionally, you can enjoy the rural view while travelling from the Battambang city to Phnom Banan. I recommend you to visit Phnom Banan in the early morning or late in the afternoon in order to get the best light.
Preah Vihear Province
10. Preah Vihear Temple
Preah Vihear Temple is another UNESCO World Heritage site and a famous Cambodia tourism site. This temple is located in the northern part of Cambodia, Preah Vihear province, which sits on the border of Cambodia and Thailand. Different from other temples in Cambodia, Preah Vihear Temple was built on the edge of a giant cliff of the Dongrek Mountain. Preah Vihear Temple consists of four levels and four courtyards.
Preah Vihear Temple is another historical Cambodia tourism site that showcases unique Khmer architecture and the greatness of the Khmer Kingdom in the past. Since the temple is 625 meters above sea level, you are able to enjoy the stunning scenery of mother nature from above. You can only visit the temple until 4:00 pm due to the fact that you need some time to travel back from the peak of the mountain to the bottom before it gets dark.
11. Koh Ker Temple – Cambodia Tourism
Another temple located in Preah Vihear province, it is Koh Ker Temple. It is one of the temples in the Koh Ker complex. Koh Ker complex I has approximately 96 temples, some are buried in the ground and some are no longer standing. Koh Ker is an ancient capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia. This temple is a 35-meter-high stupa. The temple consists of seven steps. Each step or level is 5 meters above the others. Koh Ker Temple looks like a small hill from afar since it is covered by trees and grass. Kampong Thom Province
12. Sambor Prei Kuk
Sambor Prei Kuk is another complex of the temple, which recently received the title as the third UNESCO World Heritage site in Cambodia. The temple is situated in Kampong Thom province, which sits between Phnom Penh city and Siem Reap province. When you travel from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, you should take some time to visit Sambor Prei Kuk Temple. Sambor Prei Kuk Temple was built before the Angkorian era. It is one of Cambodia’s earliest architecture and was an ancient city known as “Isanapura”. The Sambor Prei Kuk complex consists of more than 100 brick temples covered with many sculptures and many decorative details in Khmer style. Until these days, the temples still huddle in the middle of the forest, away from the crowd.
Stung Treng Province
13. Lbak Khaon – Cambodia Tourism
Lbak Khaon is a large rocky waterfall situated in the north of Cambodia, Stung Treng province on the Mekong river, at the border of Cambodia and Laos. This waterfall is the largest waterfall in Cambodia and in South-east Asia with a height of 26 meters. Due to the fact that the waterfall level is high and the water is also strong and fast speed, you cannot swim in this waterfall as other waterfalls in Cambodia. However, the view there is so magically beautiful.
14. Bou Sra Waterfall – Cambodia Tourism
The north-east side of Cambodia consists of many natural tourism sites. Bou Sra Waterfall is one of the most impressive Cambodia tourism spots. It is a waterfall located in the eastern of Sen Monorom City, Mondulkiri province. The Bou Sra Waterfall is a triple-drop waterfall and has three stages of a waterfall. Tourists can visit the first stage and second stage of Bou Sra waterfall. However, for the third stage of this waterfall, it is hidden in the thick forest and it is the area of dangerous wildlife inhabits. You can explore the third stage of Bou Sra waterfall but please be careful since the forest is dense and the road is tough and small, sometimes there is no marked path at all. Moreover, at Bou Sra, you can experience the life of ethnic minorities by renting their traditional clothes to wear with the price as low as 1.25 USD.
15. Boeng Yeak Lom – Cambodia Tourism
Boeng Yeak Lom is a popular Cambodia tourism site which is only 5 kilometers from Ban Lung provincial town of Ratanakiri province. The lake was formed many centuries ago from a volcano. Boeng Yeak Lom is a natural lake in the middle of a mountain, which is 48 meters deep and 800 meters in diameter during the dry season. The water of the Boeng Yeak Lom is clean and clear and suitable for swimming. Along the bank of the lake, there are two places where visitors can relax and enjoy the panoramic scenery of Boeng Yeak Lom.
