When someone mentions Siem Reap, the first thing come into your mind probably is Angkor Wat. It is common, as Siem Reap has always appeared as an ancient site to travelers. However, visiting temples or learning history is the activity that we can only enjoy before the sunset. Although Siem Reap seems like a small quiet town in daytime, it transforms completely at night.

Once you enter the Centre of the town after spending time in the countryside, Siem Reap is lightening up everywhere. Adding to the magical view, the sound of music and instruments can be heard from a certain part of the city. Once placing your feet into a place called Pub Street Siem Reap, you will find yourself standing in a whole different world. Might not be expected in such an ancient town, but this little entertaining area is where you go and enjoy your nightlife. Pub Street Siem Reap is a perfect place to complete your trip.

Pub Street Siem Reap located around Old market is one of the lovely places to relax after a tiring day. Different from the other attractions, this place normally starts to pack in crowds after 5 pm. Pub Street Siem Reap is a block of streets. Each of those streets is filled with different kind of activities. One street may gather restaurants while the next one might line up with touristy shops.

Others than that there are varieties of massage parlors and coffee shops. With the neon light decorations and live band music from the restaurants, this place offers a fun and lively atmosphere. Plus, some roads are blocked off to traffic after the sun sets off, make it easier for tourists to take a stroll and enjoy the atmosphere that this place offers. Not only popular amongst the travelers, but the locals also love hanging around the area.

Also, there is a bug coffee shop and street vendors that sell food made of different kind of bugs like a tarantula, silk warm, cricket, and scorpion. These kinds of foods are popular amongst the locals due to its crispy and chewy taste.

Once you step your feet into Pub Street, you will see the ” fish and food message ‘ sign every corner. With their motto ‘ if our fish cannot make you happy- we will not charge’, the fish massage will give you a fun experience and exfoliate your feet in the most natural way possible. By dipping your feet into a large tank, small fishes will come around and gently nibbling at your heels. There are also places that you can get foot massage by disabled people, which is great since you can get to relax and help them earn income at the same time.

There are a few night markets, which are the popular attraction in the Pub Street area. No one should miss visiting it while in Siem Reap. The night market has all sorts of souvenirs from local Cambodian products as scarves, ornaments, sculptures, paintings, clothes, and jewelry.

Some of those products are handmade. The goods have good quality and reasonable price. The market itself also has massage parlors, and tattoo studios where you can get nice Henna designs.

Rolled ice cream or fried ice cream is another popular snack in Pub Street Siem Reap. Unlike the others, this ice cream is freshly made and its sweetness is from the fresh fruits. Rolled ice cream is made fresh of milk, cream, and fruit, which you can choose any type of fruit to add-in. Right in front of the customer, the seller guy pours cream on a frozen plate, adds fresh fruit, mashes them together, spreads it again and rolls them up. When finished it looks like a bouquet of flower.

If you want to chill after a hot day at the temple, then you must try the draught beer. It is available almost at every restaurant and bar in Pub Street Siem Reap. The beer is cold and fresh which is just perfect for the relaxing evening. Importantly, you can get it from a very reasonable price, 0. 50 $.

Adding to the menu, Banana Leaf also offers varieties of drinks from non- alcoholic-to-alcoholic drinks. As this place located in the corner, a good front view is assured, accompany with a live band performance. The restaurant has a big screen for popular sporting events. Not to mention, they offer a special price during the happy hour from 6 pm to 8 pm.

The Red Piano

Are you a fan of Angelina Jolie? You should totally try this place out since it is one of her favorite places to hangout in Siem Reap. It is located in the best place, the centre of Pub Street Siem Reap. Also, Red Piano offers the coziest and pleasant atmosphere with its interesting interior decoration. It is a nice place to wind down after a long day. The seating is outside so you can enjoy the sight and the entertainment of Pub Street from upstairs. A must-try from this restaurant is the “ Tomb Raider Cocktail”.

Temple Club

Want to have a great party night out? Come to Temple club, one of the most popular spots in Pub Street Siem Reap. It is more than just a club. During the daytime, they serve food like a normal restaurant. However, from 10 pm until wee hours, the ground and the first floor become the dance floor with great music and DJ playing. While the second floor is more of an open-air rooftop bar where you can get great cocktails and live band music every day. Also, there is a traditional Khmer dance show every night at 7.30pm on the second floor.

The Angkor What? Bar

It is one of the oldest bars to have been opened since 1998. This bar is the favorite of the backpackers as this bar has a friendlier vibe than the others. It is less crowded and much less boisterous. Also, this place is popular for its good music and the sound. They have a nice Graffiti set up and bartenders. Want a good deal? Their happy hour starts from 4 pm to 9 pm, draft beer price only 0. 75$. Plus, if you order two buckets of alcohol at the time, you will get a nice free T-shirt.

Asana Old Wooden House

A little special than the others, this bar is an old Khmer wooden house located in the middle of Pub Street. Asana is like a hidden gem for someone who prefers somewhere quiet and less touristy in Pub Street. This little wooden house has an authentic and unique venue surrounded by a lovely garden. Decorating with hammocks, swinging chairs and rice bags for sofas. Their signature cocktails are more of a Khmer style, which taste super good.

Recommendation:

As a local ourselves, we fell in love deeply with Pub Street Siem Reap. We enjoy spending our evening exploring the area. First thing we would recommend is to visit the night market. You will love the atmosphere in the market. With the lighting and decoration, you will have fun exploring the market finding a souvenir for your loved one.

Next is to try the fish or foot massage, those are really good. Give your feet a treat; their services are nice and affordable. Last but not least is to try the food in different restaurants. What is more fun than going on a food hunting adventure? Try those exotic foods in Pub Street Siem Reap; you will surely have an unforgettable experience. Also, why not going on to the dance floor and spend your night to the fullest?
